Initiative Musik Application: How to Start Without Application Frustration<\/h3>\n

If you’ve ever stumbled upon the Initiative Musik<\/a> website and thought:
\n“Wow \u2013 artist funding, that would be something for me!”
\n\u2026 and immediately after:
\n“Help, this is as incomprehensible as a tax return!” or “And what exactly do I need to do now?” Then this post is for you \u2013 a little nudge to just give it a try. The next application deadline is approaching (April 10\u201330), and I’ll give you concrete tips on how to significantly increase your chances with your application. <\/p>\n

But first: Initiative Musik is a nationwide funding institution that supports pop music and jazz in Germany \u2013 with the goal of strengthening artists, music companies, and live\/project ventures. It awards funding for productions, marketing, tours, and structural development, specifically targeting projects with development potential. It is primarily financed by public funds (including the federal government) and operates with clear calls for applications and deadlines. <\/p>\n

Let\u2019s start basic: Three Truths about Initiative Musik<\/h3>\n
1) Funding is primarily aimed at up-&-coming artists<\/h5>\n

You don’t have to be an established act. On the contrary: artist funding specifically targets developing musicians who want to take the next step \u2013 and for whom this step would be difficult without funding. <\/p>\n

2) You can get funding for production, marketing, or live events \u2013 and claim your own contributions<\/h5>\n

For example, you can get funding for music production, marketing, or live projects. In addition, rehearsals and creative work count as so-called own contributions. You can claim or be paid for these as your own contribution, up to 15% of the total expenses. <\/p>\n

3) You need at least \u20ac4,000 in equity<\/h5>\n

Initiative Musik’s artist funding covers a maximum of 60% of your total expenses. This means you contribute at least 40% of the own contribution yourself \u2013 for a minimum application volume of \u20ac10,000.
\nIn short: If you apply for \u20ac10,000, you need at least \u20ac4,000 in own contribution.<\/p>\n

Now it gets exciting: Five Tips for Your Funding Application<\/h3>\n

1) Don’t be afraid of the application<\/h5>\n

Don’t let bureaucracy intimidate you. Talk to artists who have already applied \u2013 that helps enormously because you’ll quickly understand what really matters in practice. <\/p>\n

2) Think strategically \u2013 not just creatively<\/h5>\n

Sure: Your album, your tour, or your project will be big. But: What really sets you apart? And how exactly does the funding help you? Answer these questions for yourself (and later for the jury): <\/p>\n
