Passenger of the Month im Juli 2014: theAngelcy

theAngelcy was founded in the hot summer of 2011 in Israel and quickly became well known in the local scene.
The band, independently managed, gained considerable popularity and achieved quite a lot in its different fields of activity: Radio 3 major hits in Israel “Dreamer”, “The Call” and recently “My Baby Boy” were featured on the most important playlist in Israel (Galgalatz). “Dreamer” was taken directly from the band’s demo, “Begginers’ Love” (2011), while the next two were released as singles from the band’s debut album, “Exit Inside” (2014).

In TV with the most viewed live music video in the „IndieCity“ series on Channel 8, and representing Tel Aviv in “Metropolis”, an ARTE (frenchgerman channel) documentary diving deep into the cultural life of a different city in each episode. Cinema with the theme song for the Locarno Festival Silver Leopard award winner, „Not In Tel Aviv“.

In concerts in Israel on the main stages of the top 3 indie music festivals (Indie Negev, Yaarot Menashe, Central Station Festival) and with packed gigs all across the country, including 3 major ones in „Barby“ Tel Aviv in front of a full house within 7 months (which is exceptional even for well established and experienced artists), as well as opening for Calexico.

In May 2014, a soldout release concert in “Barby” Tel Aviv took place in front of 1000 mesmerized, singing along fans. And recently also abroad in Summer 2013 the band played at the Lithuanian „Galapagi“ Festival and hit Berlin for the first time, with an article in Melodie & Rhythmus magazine and appearances in Berlin Sessions, Radioeins and a packed live concert in Kaffee Burger.

Summer 2014 will see the band touring Europe again, in a journey that will include Fusion Festival (Germany), United Islands & Deka Fest (Czech Republic), Krakow Jewish Music Festival (poland) and Stereoleto Festival in St. Petersburg (Russia), among concerts in local venues in those countries. Many of these performances were made possible thanks to the last “international showcase festival”.
The band’s long awaitedfor debut album, “Exit Inside”, has been finally released in May 2014, winning rave reviews and frequently appearing in iTunes Israel and Bandcamp’s “Top Albums” lists.

theAngelcy is staying in touch with music industry people in Israel and abroad, aspiring to go out there and meet crowds from all around the world, and deliver them its music and its human and universal songs.
