Our Artist of the Month for February: Sobi
Indie rock with purpose: Sobi releases “Aisle 10”
In a world that can so easily become too loud, too much, and overwhelming, we sometimes long for music that creates closeness. Songs that feel like a quiet hug in the rain or a late-night kitchen conversation by flickering candlelight. This is exactly the kind of intimacy captured by our recordJet Artist of the Month for February: Sobi.
Perhaps it’s because she carries so many worlds within her. Born in Madrid, raised in London, with roots in Sri Lanka and now based in Hannover, Sobi blends cultural influences, lived experiences and emotions into a sound that touches gently and lingers long after the song ends. Her music never feels forced — it’s honest, warm and deeply human. And that’s precisely where her strength lies.
Who is Sobi? A look at her musical journey
Sobi, whose real name is Sobini Böhm, began writing her own songs at the age of 16. Early on, she drew inspiration from artists such as Laura Marling and Lianne La Havas, developing a distinctive musical voice defined by warm guitar sounds, clear melodies and a voice that carries stories rather than overwhelming them. With her 2020 EP “Home One Day”, it became clear what makes Sobi’s music so special: her ability to translate big emotions into small, precise images. The song “Pearl”, written for her daughter, quickly became a fan favourite and an emotional anchor for many listeners — often even more powerful when performed live.
Personal stories instead of perfection
A major milestone followed in 2023, when Sobi’s song “Honey Honey” was featured in the Netflix production “Love At First Sight”. It introduced her music to an international audience without compromising her quiet, honest core. The following year, she released her debut album — a deeply personal record exploring motherhood, identity and the challenge of not losing oneself amid expectations, self-doubt and responsibility. Songs like “Victory” read like open diary entries, reflecting the feeling of seemingly having everything and still wondering if one is enough. Rather than chasing perfection, Sobi celebrates growth, failure and self-acceptance — an attitude that makes her music feel profoundly relatable.
The success of the album did not go unnoticed. Sobi played sold-out shows in Hannover and London and toured across Germany and the UK. Her live performances have since become a defining hallmark: intimate, emotional and characterised by a strong connection with her audience.
And now? Looking ahead
Nearly two years after her debut album, Sobi opens a new chapter with her single “Aisle 10”. The song marks the beginning of a new phase in 2026. A spilled drink in a supermarket becomes a symbol of our time: people pause for a moment — and then walk on. Sobi transforms this everyday image into a painful but honest question: “When did it become so hard to help?” The song speaks of social exhaustion, helplessness and emotional distance, while also expressing a longing for compassion and change.
2026 will be a key year for Sobi. Following “Aisle 10” (January 30), she will release “Missing Piece” on February 27 and “Woodwork” on April 3. Her second album, “Life Will Be Easy Again”, will be released on May 8, 2026 — a title that carries both hope and a subtle wink. The album will be accompanied by further tours in Germany and the UK, bringing that unique blend of intimacy and emotional depth back to the stage.
Why Sobi is our recordJet Artist of the Month
Because she is an artist who hits softly but stays with you. Because her music is honest without being kitschy, poetic without drifting away. Because she sings about motherhood, doubt, overwhelm and social fatigue in a language everyone understands — yet few can articulate so clearly. And because she is at a moment where everything feels possible: a new album, a new phase, a focused artistic vision. In short: Sobi is not an artist you simply listen to. You feel her. And that’s why she is our recordJet Artist of the Month for February.
