Megaloh: The Art of Creating Worlds with Words – Why Megaloh is our recordJet Artist of the Month for November
Some rappers tell stories. Others create entire worlds with their words. Megaloh undoubtedly belongs to the latter category. For more than two decades, the Berlin native has been one of the most unique voices in German hip-hop and is our Artist of the Month for November 2026.
His music combines technical sophistication with attitude, poetic imagery with social observations, and classic rap roots with a passion for musical experimentation. Above all, he has proven one thing: for him, artistic freedom isn’t just a buzzword, but a conscious choice.
Megaloh is our recordJet Artist of the Month for November 2026. And there’s more than one reason for that.
From Berlin-Moabit to the German album charts
Megaloh, born Uchenna van Capelleveen, grew up in Berlin-Moabit. His Nigerian-Dutch roots and the capital’s musical environment shaped his worldview and artistic identity from an early age.
He already made a name for himself in the German rap scene in the early 2000s. In 2002, he founded his own label, Level Eight, and in 2005, his first album “Im Game” was released. His major commercial breakthrough followed in 2013 with “Endlich unendlich“, which reached the top 10 of the German album charts. With the follow-up “Regenmacher“, he even managed to jump to number two in 2016.
Megaloh had long since established himself as one of Germany’s most technically skilled and lyrically sophisticated rappers.
Hip-hop without musical blinkers
But for Megaloh, it was never just about chart positions. His musical curiosity constantly led him beyond the boundaries of classic German rap.
In 2017, together with Musa and Ghanaian Stallion under the name BSMG, he released the political concept album “Platz an der Sonne“. In it, the three musicians explored identity, colonial history, and social power dynamics.
Megaloh remained experimental in the following years as well. Projects like “HOTBOX” and “21” showed different facets of his sound and artistic development.
What holds his music together is his unmistakable writing style: complex rhyme structures, surprising metaphors, and a flow where even individual syllables become instruments.
Chinonso Records: Back to Independence
With the album “Drei Kreuze”, an important chapter of his career ended in 2022. Megaloh said goodbye to his major label phase and founded his own label, Chinonso Records.
The step back into independence opened up new artistic possibilities. Instead of following expectations or musical trends, he could pursue his own ideas even more consistently.
In 2023, the EP “AFROV1BES” was released, on which Megaloh once again proved his openness to different musical influences. This was followed by a live album with the German Film Orchestra Babelsberg and the 2025 studio album “Schwarzer Lotus”. Both projects show how versatile his musical work has become.
“Crémant in Limoux”: Rap as Poetic Craft
With “Crémant in Limoux”, from the EP “In Indigo geschrieben” released on October 30, 2026, Megaloh shows once again why he is one of the most extraordinary wordsmiths in German hip-hop.
The track is a little gem of lyrical boutique rap: obscure samples meet a sound reminiscent of the raw, experimental hip-hop of Staten Island in the mid-1990s. Over this, Megaloh weaves a dense web of rhymes, image fragments, and linguistic associations. His words work not just through their meaning, but also through their sound. Syllables interlock, rhymes shift, and a unique atmosphere emerges from seemingly loose thoughts.
“Crémant in Limoux” is above all one thing: a song for everyone who doesn’t just want to listen to hip-hop, but also discover it linguistically.
Why Megaloh is our recordJet Artist of the Month for November
Whether it’s classic boom-bap, political concept albums, African-inspired sounds, or orchestral arrangements: Megaloh has never let himself be pinned down to a single musical direction. His career shows that artistic development doesn’t mean leaving your roots behind. Rather, it’s about constantly giving them new forms of expression.
With Chinonso Records, his unmistakable writing style, and releases like “Crémant in Limoux”, Megaloh remains an artist who prefers to forge his own path rather than follow pre-determined ones.
