What’s New?
April 2025: TikTok for Artists
TikTok for Artists brings new opportunities for DIY artists and indies. The new tools make it possible to work data-driven, strengthen fan engagement, and create more targeted creative content. For example:
- Detailed insights into the performance of your music on TikTok.
- See which content resonates most with your fans.
- Discover new tools to promote your music more effectively.
- Set up EP or album campaigns including pre-save tools for Spotify and Apple Music.
May 2023: #NewMusic
Music is at the heart of the TikTok experience. Since early May, the #NewMusic Search Hub has been a dedicated space for artists to showcase new songs. Fans can discover their next favorite track through this new feature. The #NewMusic Hub serves as a central place for fresh releases, offering rising and established artists a chance to grow their audience and connect with their fanbase.
May 2023: “Work With Artists” Feature
Since early May, media outlets have been reporting on TikTok’s testing of a new feature called “Work With Artists.” The idea is simple: artists and labels can set a budget to encourage TikTok creators to use their music and create content for a selected song. Once content is published, creators earn money based on how well their video performs. Top ten creators receive additional payouts. An official launch date has not yet been announced.
May 2023: Artist Impact Program
In mid-May, TikTok introduced the “Artist Impact Program” as part of its Commercial Music Library. The program brings more music from global artists to the platform, offering brands and artists more ways to collaborate. It allows artists to monetize their music when businesses use it in their content – opening up discovery in markets worldwide.
December 2023 – Artist Tag and Profile Features
To help grow your fanbase, TikTok introduced the Artist Account. With at least four songs already on TikTok, you can access a range of promotion tools. The Artist Tag adds a label under your username, identifying you as an artist to fans and potential followers. The feature also highlights your upcoming release 14 days before and 30 days after launch – boosting visibility on the sound’s discovery pages.
January 2024 – What Else Is New?
The Music Tab curates your catalog and ensures new tracks are added automatically. The “By Artists” feature increases your visibility, and you can pin a preferred post at the top of your page – great for drawing attention to a new release or viral clip.
“Behind the Song” lets you create short explanation clips about your creative process and song backstories. These appear in search feeds and music highlights – strengthening your fans’ emotional connection to your music.
May 2024 – Fan Spotlight
Fan Spotlight lets artists showcase up to five favorite fan videos on their music tab. When a video is selected as a Fan Spotlight, you’ll receive a notification. It stays pinned for up to 7 days – after that, you can choose new fan content to highlight.
