Mine Artist of the Month September 2026 – always authentic, always true to herself, always Mine

Mine is our Artist of the Month for September 2026—and on September 4, her new album, her sixth, “KILLER,” will be released. High time to tell the story of a career you can almost read through her albums.

There are artists you can figure out pretty well after three songs. Genre? Check. Sound? Check. Case closed.

And then there’s Mine.

For thirteen years, the singer, songwriter, producer, and composer has been making music that quite successfully resists being permanently categorized anywhere. Pop? Of course. But there’s also jazz, hip-hop, folk, electronic, strings, synthesizers, and time and again instruments and sounds you wouldn’t necessarily have expected in the next moment.

Perhaps trying to explain Mine through a genre is the wrong approach from the start.

Because over the past thirteen years, she’s accomplished one thing above all: she’s built a reputation as one of the most influential German pop artists outside the mainstream. And in doing so, she’s repeatedly balanced on a narrow edge where success and radical artistic independence are simultaneously possible.

Always authentic. Always true to herself. Always Mine. Just at different points in her life.

And right now, a new one is beginning.

That she’s our Artist of the Month today fits pretty well: Mine represents much of what we celebrate in independent music—a clear artistic vision, consistent development, and the courage to constantly rethink her own path.

On September 16, she’ll also be part of the FLINTA* Music Force Showcase at Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg—together with lùisa and Charlotte Colace at Schmidtchen on Spielbudenplatz.

Dunkel, Mine

From jazz vocals to a completely unique vision of pop

That Mine wants not only to sing music but to understand and shape it down to the smallest detail runs through her entire career.

Growing up near Stuttgart, she takes vocal and instrumental lessons as a child. Later she studies jazz vocals at the Mainz University of Music and then begins a master’s degree in producing and composing at the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg.

Already at the beginning of her career, a quality emerges that still defines Mine today: when she has an idea, it can be a little bigger. In 2013, she raises more than €10,000 through crowdfunding for a concert at the sold-out Mannheimer Capitol—she arranges the songs herself for a specially assembled chamber orchestra. A few years later, she repeats the experiment on an even larger scale: nearly €32,000 comes together for an orchestral concert in Berlin.

Today that sounds almost like an early blueprint for her career: do it yourself, think big, and musically please never take the easiest path.

“Mine” (2014): In the beginning is her own language

The debut album already shows what will later become her signature: unusual arrangements, a very distinctive way of working with the German language, and a voice that never gets lost even in large productions. For “Ziehst du mit,” four versions are created with four different rappers—including Fatoni. The connection to hip-hop will remain.

“Das Ziel ist im Weg” (2016): Please no straight lines

The sound becomes bigger, darker, and more electronic. Synthesizers meet folk, jazz, and hip-hop; in between, Mine’s love of unusual imagery. The album reaches number 81 on the German album charts—the beginning of a remarkably consistent upward trajectory.

“Alle Liebe nachträglich” (2017): Mine & Fatoni

Mine and Fatoni make an album together—two artists with a pretty good relationship with language and a shared preference for making supposedly simple answers more complicated. It’s about love and relationships, but not just their beautiful sides. The album reaches number 47 on the German charts.

“Klebstoff” (2019): What sticks to us

With “Klebstoff,” Mine’s sound becomes more organic: strings, flutes, organs—even bagpipes. Mine now largely plays and produces herself, and the album enters the German album charts at number 28.

At the same time, “Klebstoff” marks the beginning of something that, in retrospect, can be read as a larger context: the start of a trilogy that leads through “Hinüber” to “Baum”—three albums after which Mine deliberately sets a new beginning in 2026 with “KILLER.”

“Hinüber” (2021): When suddenly the whole world sits at the table

Climate crisis, social responsibility, privilege—and yet there’s still room for friendship and very personal observations. “Hinüber” reaches number 13 on the German album charts. In the same year, Mine is honored at the Preis für Popkultur, receives the Deutscher Musikautorenpreis, and also arranges strings for Danger Dan’s number-one album.

“Baum” (2024): Something new grows

After looking at a world that seems broken in many places, “Baum” asks: What actually grows afterward?

The audience follows Mine there too—number 7 on the German album charts, sold-out tour, and in 2025 once again large orchestral concerts with an ensemble of more than 20 musicians.

A lot has happened from the crowdfunding for the first orchestral concert to here. The idea behind it has remained surprisingly similar.

A career without fear of collaboration

Anyone moving through Mine’s discography inevitably encounters many other artists.

Fatoni, Samy Deluxe, Die Orsons, Edgar Wasser, Sophie Hunger, Grossstadtgeflüster, Giulia Becker, Mauli, Danger Dan, AB Syndrom—the list is long. But what’s interesting is less who Mine works with than how.

Features with her rarely feel like strategically placed names on a tracklist. Rather, Mine allows other artistic perspectives to enter her own world quite naturally, without losing her signature in the process. Mine doesn’t have to prove her independence by keeping everything else at arm’s length.

“KILLER” (2026): Back to the beginning

And that brings us back to 2026.

After “Klebstoff,” “Hinüber,” and “Baum,” a chapter closes with “KILLER”—and at the same time a new one begins. The sixth solo album is more reduced and direct: fewer instruments, analog synthesizers, clearer arrangements, and lyrics about change, self-discovery, and new beginnings.

Mine herself describes this process quite drastically:

“I killed off old versions of myself.”

With “Dunkel,” “Oxytocin” feat. LIONSTORM, “Bild von mir” feat. ELEO, and now also “Ohne dich,” four previews have been released. “Ohne dich” is the last pre-released song from the album—a farewell song that starts small and eventually develops into a web of synthesizers.

On September 4, “KILLER” follows. In November, Mine goes on a major tour: 15 dates taking her through Germany and Austria, from the opening on November 4 in Mannheim to the finale on November 21 at Berlin’s Uber Eats Music Hall. The venue and date are now officially confirmed.

And after that? First, a break.

Mine already announced at the end of 2025 that she wants to take a break after this tour. That’s precisely why “KILLER” takes on a different significance: the album isn’t simply the next point in an already long discography. It marks a conscious new beginning—right before Mine takes some time for herself after years full of albums, tours, orchestral concerts, and collaborations.

Perhaps after all these years, that’s also pretty consistent: to change when change is right. And to pause when pausing is right.

Mine Artist of the Month: Success and artistic integrity go together

Mine hasn’t built her position in the German music landscape by finding the perfect formula at some point and then repeating it over and over.

On the contrary. From number 81 with “Das Ziel ist im Weg” through number 28 with “Klebstoff” and number 13 with “Hinüber” to number 7 with “Baum,” her development shows quite impressively that a growing audience and artistic independence don’t have to be contradictory.

You can be complex and still reach people. You can experiment and still make pop. And you can change without losing yourself.

That’s exactly why Mine is our Artist of the Month.

Always authentic. Always true to herself. Always Mine. Just never the same.
