Our Artist of the Month in September 2023: Celina Bostic
German pop with an empowering effect
No one can get past our Artists of the Month at the moment. CELINA BOSTIC has arrived in the middle of the pop landscape and has achieved what many musicians dream of. She graces the covers of playlists, she is played on the radio and she performs in front of almost every camera.
With her life-affirming lyrics and her campfire soul, Celina has a high enjoyment factor.
As the Tagesspiegel wrote: “She hit the nerve of the times. And that can be colourful, diverse and shrill. Pop is like that, but like that? That’s something really great! And the fact that her music career has become so big and so great at the same time is probably due to two things. On the one hand, Celina dares to sing about what she wants to sing about (no, that’s not necessarily the case in pop) and on the other hand, it’s also due to the top-class backing Celina has enjoyed for years. Among her supporters are Andras Bourani, Judith Holofernes and Sarah Connor, for whom she has already been the opener. As a background singer, she has performed with Herbert Grönemeyer, Max Herre and Udo Lindenberg. Last but not least, she is a permanent part of the Farin Urlaub Racing Team.

The singer-songwriter has been making pop music as Celina Bostic since 2014 and immediately caused a sensation with her acoustic debut “Zu Fuss”. As a one-woman band with guitar and loop station, she blew everyone away. Songs like “Religion” and “Papa” were written during this time. Celina got really loud after the death of George Floyd with her anti-racism song “Nie wieder leise” (Never again quiet), which is also the name of her upcoming album that will be released on 29.9. 2023.

The video, in which Celina is seen with over 40 PoC celebrities such as Samy Deluxe, Nura or Teddy Teclebrhan, hit the media landscape with force. Since then, “Never again quiet” has been the basic attitude with which Celina not only goes through life, but also writes her songs. About topics that are taboo for many. On one of her new songs on the upcoming album, rapper Megaloh supports her. “As if nothing had happened” takes a critical look at our culture of remembrance. After the 1st single release “Die Resilienz”, “Doppelmoppel” was released as the second single release on 11.08.2023 – a cheer for all people who are at home in more than one culture. Celina self-confidently shows that her “migration background” is not a deficit but an enrichment and conveys the whole thing with ease and the body percussion charm typical of Celina: music that you make with your body. Clapping, stamping. The album “Nie wieder leise” will be released on 29.9. 2023.
