Our Featured Artist for May is newcomer JOEDY

The daughter of a successful musician, JOEDY came into contact with music at an early age. At the age of just 14, while she was still at school, she took her first baby steps in the music industry. A little later, after finishing school, she moved to Berlin in order to realise her dream of a career in music and to find herself.

Between “knowing exactly what you want” and “being lost”, prejudices and her first experiences with the wrong people, a failed record contract, toxic relationships and money problems, JOEDY still managed to find herself and her own sound: urban pop with atmospheric trap and RnB influences.

It was these experiences and apparent obstacles that resulted in the EP “Krank”.

Every song on this EP comes from my own real experiences and they are very personal to me. I want to share my journey, my story, the moments of happiness, the failures and bouncing back with people. Life is like a sick roller coaster ride. You never know what is coming next and everything is going well, and then all of a sudden, everything goes horribly wrong.

And that is precisely why JOEDY sees no point in dithering, and instead is much more straightforward: finding yourself is difficult enough. And it doesn’t make it any easier when other people interfere with you and think it’s better to know who you are and what you do. That is why I am just myself and do what I feel in the moment.
