From the underground to Germany's largest Y

“Forever” is the name of YASSIN’s just released album. It is the second solo album by our Passenger of the Month Yassin Taibi. In addition to his constant intelligent lyrics over the past 15 years, the Darmstadt native also became known for the duo “Audio88 & Yassin” with the rapper Audio88 and, of course, for his debut album YPSILON from 2019.

As the son of an Algerian and a German, the examination of origin, migration and racism play a decisive role in YASSIN’s lyrics. But YASSIN also devotes himself to many social and interpersonal topics outside of these subject areas, often accompanied by sarcasm and black humour.

YASSIN began writing his first rap lyrics at the age of eleven, without knowing exactly what he was doing.
what he was actually doing. The spark jumped sometime during the 1990s hip-hop boom when he discovered the Fugees and later the Rödelheim Hartreim project for himself. It must have been around 1999 when he finally got himself a record player and a mixer. The rest was only a logical consequence: at the age of 14, he began to DJ and produce his first own beats. Later, he did a little detour as a student for philosophy, but he dropped out and moved to Berlin in 2007 to finally pursue his true calling: and become a musician.

The rest is history. Since 2010, he has released numerous albums and EPs in the duo “Audio88 & Yassin”. Since 2016, even on his own label “Normal Music”. YASSIN also worked with other artists such as Job, Morlockk Dilemma, Dexter and Torky Tork. His last albums reached the fantastic positions 8, 3 and 2 in the German album charts. In the course of his career, Yassin has already played over 200 live shows, as a duo with Audio88, solo or as support for K.I.Z., Casper or Marteria, among others. His current single “Ohne uns”, feat. Schmyt, is the highlight for now.
