Our Artist of the Month for June is: GINI

GINI – A Fusion of Pop, R&B, Hip-Hop, and Profound Lyrics

Our Artist of the Month for June is the incredible GINI. To understand her, you need to look at Berlin-Spandau. Here – between suburban dreariness and the hard asphalt of the capital – she grew up. This DNA flows unfiltered into her music. GINI is not an artist of quiet tones; she is the voice of those who have to fight for their dreams themselves.

Music was practically in her cradle: As the daughter of a percussionist and a bassist, she grew up surrounded by instruments and studio sounds. She started playing piano at six, composed her first pieces at seven, and was already producing her own beats and songs at twelve.

Her career didn’t begin in a record label’s lab, but with a guitar and the courage to perform in front of millions as a teenager on “Dein Song“. But instead of letting herself be molded, she forged her own sound: a mix of urban R&B, modern pop, and a touch of hip-hop edge.

Sound, Aesthetic, and Milestones

GINI’s artistic world is a deliberate counterpoint to glossy pop: Musically, she blends melancholic cloud pop, urban R&B, and alternative hip-hop into a sound that she often wraps in a stripped-down, almost intimate aesthetic. She made her first major impact with the EP “Wände im Viertel“, where she explores the feeling of isolation in the big city. While her solo track “Daddy” solidified her foundation, the collaboration “Allein” (with Sido and Bozza) catapulted her deep into the playlists of the German rap scene with nearly 7.4 million streams on Spotify.

With currently around 35,000 monthly listeners and about 4,500 followers on Spotify and around 6,600 followers on Instagram, she remains an artist who convinces through depth rather than artificially inflated reach.

“Daddy” – A Song Between Pain and Strength

GINI gets particularly personal with her song “Daddy”, which she first wrote as a child during her parents’ separation. Years later, she rewrote the song. In it, she processes her relationship with her father and speaks openly about emotional distance, vulnerability, and the desire for understanding. Instead of sugarcoating the story, she shows raw honesty – that’s exactly what makes the track so intense and relatable. “Daddy” is not a classic pop song, but an emotional statement about family, expectations, and growing up. With her direct language and atmospheric production, GINI creates a song that gets under your skin and speaks to many people’s souls.

More Than a Newcomer

GINI is currently solidifying her presence primarily through strategic placement in curated streaming playlists like “Deutschpop” on Amazon Music as well as various newcomer and singer-songwriter lists on Spotify.

With around 35,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, she uses this digital reach to lay the groundwork for her first self-produced album, which she is currently working on intensively. Her focus is on artistic independence and an honest, intimate sound, which she tests in parallel through exclusive live formats like “unreleased.berlin” to build long-term connections between her social media community and her new musical identity.
