Our Passenger of the Month in January 2023: Paul Wetz
Pop and Techno: Paul Wetz
It all started when he was 8 years old and wrote his first songs. The first rock band was quickly formed with friends, in which Paul Wetz shouted into a microphone and played his fingers to the bone on the guitar. At some point during his school days, he realised that it was possible to make music with the computer and became completely obsessed with it overnight.
He started uploading remixes and instrumentals to Soundcloud, which brought him to the attention of more and more artists. So eventually I started producing for other musicians – for example, the track Teni Tenime for the Turkish singer Sena Şener. After a few years, many experiments and numerous releases, Paul Wetz now combines his songwriting with electronic music. If you had to label it, it would probably be alternative, melancholic pop music with influences from techno.
During the Lockdown period, the artist also started making short videos and crafting songs out of any lyrics and sounds. This way he was able to win a larger audience for his music. Now it is time to finally bring this music to the stage. He is supported by Andre Haaf on keyboards and Johannes Lange-Kabitz on drums. Both studied at the Pop Academy and have already toured with several well-known artists. Together they combine an electronic sound with instruments and vocals. A live band with an electronic kick.
