recordJet Is an Official Mix Supplier for Apple Music DJ Mix Shows

Good news for established artists who also work as DJs: Selected artists can now release their DJ Mix Shows on Apple Music through our recordJet First Class service, in collaboration with PLATOON for DJs, Apple Music’s official platform for DJ Mix Shows.

This gives selected artists another opportunity to make their studio mixes and live mixes available to a global audience, with transparent accounting and professional distribution.

Important: This service is exclusively intended for established artists who also perform as DJs alongside their own music careers. It is not a general distribution service for DJs who only want to release DJ mixes. Eligibility for distribution through recordJet First Class is assessed individually.

What Is PLATOON for DJs?

PLATOON for DJs is Apple Music’s official platform for submitting and managing DJ Mix Shows. Submitted sets are reviewed and technically processed before being delivered to Apple Music through official mix suppliers such as recordJet.

The aim is to establish DJ sets as an art form in their own right, with proper rights management, high-quality audio and editorial integration into curated pages such as Cercle, Dekmantel, Home Again and Palace Skateboards.

Who Is Eligible for the Apple Music DJ Mix Show Service?

Our DJ Mix Show service is designed for selected, established artists who also work as DJs alongside their own music careers.

The following eligibility criteria apply:

• You are already an established artist in the music industry.
• You release your own music and are also active as a DJ.
• Your artistic career extends beyond DJ performances and the release of DJ mixes.
• Our First Class team individually reviews whether you qualify for this service.

Please note: This service is exclusively available to selected artists. Meeting the eligibility criteria does not automatically guarantee distribution.

Technical Requirements for Apple Music DJ Mix Shows

If you qualify for our First Class DJ Mix Show service, your mix must also meet the following technical and content requirements for release on Apple Music:

• Duration: At least 20 minutes
• Number of tracks: At least 10 tracks
• Content:
  • Allowed: studio mixes, hybrid sets (DJ mix + electronic live improvisation), vinyl sets
  • Not allowed: purely live performances featuring bands or acoustic instruments
• Multiple artists: Back-to-back mixes or mixes featuring MCs are permitted. Revenue is shared fairly among all parties involved.
• Catalogue requirement: At least 70% of the tracks must already be available on Apple Music.
• Cover artwork:
  • Size: 3000 × 3000 pixels (JPEG or PNG)
  • No Apple or Apple Music logos
  • No logos or links to competing services

Required Assets and Information

Once you have been approved for our First Class DJ Mix Show service, we will need the following materials to submit your mix:

1. DJ name
2. Email address
3. Title
4. Audio file in WAV format (sample rate of 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, 176.4 or 192 kHz, with a bit depth of 16 or 24 bits)
5. Tracklist in PDF format
6. Cover artwork in JPG or PNG format (3000 × 3000 pixels)
7. Primary genre and secondary genre
8. Main language of the DJ Mix Show
9. Recording date
10. Original release date, if the DJ Mix Show has already been released
11. Performance location, if it is a live set
12. Recording location

All information must be provided in full so that recordJet can correctly deliver your DJ Mix Show to Apple Music.

Tips for Preparing Your DJ Mix Show

• Choose tracks that are thematically or stylistically connected.
• Make sure transitions between tracks are smooth and seamless.
• Use clear and accurate genre descriptions.
• Pay attention to metadata quality: incorrect tracklists or recording information can cause delays.
• Allow enough time for processing – ideally at least two weeks before your planned release.
• Check your cover artwork carefully. Logos or certain visual effects may lead to rejection.
